"At the Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute our mission continues to be to develop, through research, strategies to diagnose and cure patients with heart and lung diseases and to prevent these diseases from developing in individuals at risk. Over 500 faculty, researchers and support staff are working each day to prevent and cure heart and lung disease. We are committed to OSU Medical Center’s vision of providing personalized health care to all patients. That is, health care that utilizes gene-based information to understand each person’s individual requirements for maintaining their health, preventing disease and tailoring therapies. The DHLRI uses a translational approach to science which combines genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, patients and clinical trials. Through a benchtop-to-bedside approach, our scientists and physicians work closely together to both understand why a patient becomes sick and to find new and better therapies for treatment."
